Usb write failed: access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

Hi!

I was trying to create a USB W11 with W11 Creator.
It’s not the first time, I did that several times.
As always, I launch the elevated Powershell (as Administrator).

But this time, at the “Step 4”, after I decide “Write to USB” the whole process stops due to this error:
" usb write failed: access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))"

It’s happening during the install.wim, as soon as it starts to write.

I attached a screenshot of the Windows Utility & error.

Thanks

having the exact same issue. at first I thought it was only using an 8GB flash drive, so I tried a 32GB one and the same result. I can not get past this. I am going to create the debloated ISO and then try and use windows media creator to flash … or RUFUS.

Hi!

Yeah, I solved it in the same way. Saved the ISO, used Rufus to create the bootable USB.

Please remember to UNCHECK all the options in Rufus, especially the ones after you play start.

You don’t want to modify the ISO created by the WinUtility.

P.S. Yesterday I wrote into the Discord and they suggested this way. They said it’s a known issue that it’s gonna be patched in the next release.

Have a good one
