Discord: administrator privileges

Discord: cwgf.: First, I would like to ask if any of the tweaks on chris titus tool can disable the advanced recovery startup from windows?

Since I recently did some tweaks on chris titus tool and like a hour later I somehow removed my administrator privileges on my WHOLE pc, meaning that I can’t do stuff like “Do you want to allow this app to make changes on your devices” and so on. This wouldn’t be that big of a deal since you can just reset your pc or whatever. But since I believe there is a tweak to disable the recovery menu or something, it makes it so I cannot reset my pc without using the window default “reset pc” that requires administration. So I’m here to ask you guys if there is anyway to like renable these tweaks or like fully disable the tweaks I made so I can open the advanced startup menu to recover. The only option I’ve found that probaly would work is buying a 8 gb USB.

Discord: cwgf.: Lost Administrator Privileges

Discord: rux: I’d recommend using the Utilman trick, but do be careful and create backups of the files you need to copy.

These directions specify using a Windows Boot USB, but you used to be able to do it using the Advanced Startup Recover Command Prompt option.

Discord: cwgf.: so the only option is to get a Windows Boot USB right?

Discord: rux: Okay. Let’s be clear here. What do you mean you lost Administrator? WinUtil doesn’t change user types at all.

Discord: rux: If you are talking about making changes with WinUtil, and now some settings say they are controlled by your organization or something along those lines, that is related to the methods that WinUtil uses to make changes, i.e. Group Policy. You can always change Group Policies back to defaults, by opening the gpedit.

Discord: cwgf.: I’m not 100% sure how it happened, but I think it may have involved something I changed through Win + R and netplwiz. This is also the only account on the PC. Now I can’t approve UAC prompts or do things that require administrator permissions.

Discord: rux: If you have access to the Advanced Recovery (You can hold shift when clicking restart to access it), you can follow what I said above. You will get a Command Prompt that runs as System, to copy files around. Then you can get a Command Prompt as System on the login screen.

Discord: cwgf.: Yeah, I tried that, but the screen never appeared. I tried the Windows Advanced Startup menu, force booting by restarting the PC 4 times before the Windows logo appears, and other methods too. Nothing seems to works for some reason, and I think it might be because of one of the tweaks. (This method you told me worked before)

Discord: cwgf.: (I’ve tried that method multiple times)

Discord: cwgf.: I’ll try again really quick to just make sure.

Discord: cwgf.: yep didn’t work

Discord: rux: Create a bootable Windows USB with Rufus or something then.
