Hello there,
I am posting this here as this appears to be the only freely accessible place that I can provide feedback for Chris’s project “The Linux Book” which he recently shared in one of his YouTube videos, and, also made available for purchase as a Hard Copy Book (and EPUB File too).
To be specific my feedback relates to the “thelinuxbook” website, whose link I won’t be typing out as to avoid any auto moderation even though it is Chris Titus’s own works.
The issue I have been having with the website version is that the terminal command text in the comment boxes/example boxes is of a shade of light blue that is impossible to read with my naked eyes, it appears this way on two different browser engines on Android, and, even when I change between “Light” & “Dark” modes for my browsers.
Because I suspect I can’t yet upload photos as this is my first post I will refrain from trying and instead just rely on what people see for themselves when visting the website.
The issue isn’t that the text is blue, it is that the text is a very faint blue, so on a background of white or light grey it is impossible to read unless you highlight the text first, which isn’t a great experience when dealing with a touchscreen display of s smartphone.
I do plan to buy the physical hard copy once I have some coin available to spare, so long-term it shouldn’t really have any effect on me, but I felt like it was worth raising as an issue because the fix would be as simple as making the colour of the text used for the commands themselves clearer, brighter, less faint, more saturated, and overall just more clearly defined.
Thank You for taking the time to read my feedback and Thank You Chris for making an awesome resource freely available!
