Which OS do you use?

So recently, I have been wondering which main OS you are all using and which use case you have for them. There is a poll below this message with the 3 main OSs that are used. You can, if you want to, tell me and others why you use that OS.

  • Windows
  • Linux
  • MacOS

Windows is my primary OS because most of my work apps are not available on anything else. I used to dualboot to MX linux but since I’ve had a laptop powerful enough to run it in VirtualBox without an appreciable performance hit, that’s where I’m at now.

I’m using Arch Linux for the past 3 years, I use windows in my work, but I’m unemployed now since I got fired (obvious reason AI, which has nothing to do with my job). Here is my personal laptop name and specs

ASUS TUF FX-504GD

  • 8th gen Intel CPU
  • GTX 1050 ( Using Chaotic AUR package for its divers)
  • 128 GB NVME SSD as primary (OS is here), 1TB HDD as my storage vault (also timeshift backups).
  • Also the hinge is broken

Really my answer is everything

Work I’m windows and chrome os as I’m an IT tech

at home mainly Fadora Budgie but for the odd EAC game windows 11 LTSC IOT

Home Lab proxmox with Ubuntu server LXC and TrueNAS as well as Windows server 2019 for MDT (build work laptops)

Laptop Macbook Air prefer Mac over windows and love the battery life of my Macbook air

Use an operating system for what it’s best at and what gets out your way and lets you work more efficiently ( so not windows)

I use Arch Linux, Windows sucks.

I mainly use linux. Right now my primary pc is Nobara. I also have a couple arch pc’s, a redhat pc, couple kdelinux pc’s. When i have to spin up a server, I usually go with Debian, and i have a couple instances of debian spun up as vms. Unfortunately i have to use windows at work.

NixOS! I’m never going back.
